Hug Your Babies

Yesterday I was driving to work after I had dropped Kylee off at the babysitters and I found some black ice. Before I new it, I was spinning in circles and seeing my life flash before me. I finally skidded to a halt on the other side of the bridge. I was on the inside lane and I crossed over two lanes of traffic. I got out without a scratch.

I immediately began praying and thanking God for saving my life. I realized that my life was totally in God's hands. I had heard of others having trouble in ice, but I always thought that I would know how to handle it. I quickly learned that I had absolutely no control.

I know God was watching over me b/c it could have been sooo much worse. There was no traffic coming from the other direction when I crossed over the two lanes. There was a nice big wall that kept my car from going over the bridge. Kylee was not with me. A very nice man stopped to help me and let me use his cell phone (of all days for mine to cut out).

The cop arrived about 20 minutes after we called him and then Jonathan came about 15 minutes after that. He was my knight in shining armor. I was so glad to see him. I ended up taking him back to work and heading on to Killeen (driving a different route of course). As soon as I picked Kylee up from the babysitter's I gave her a big hug and thanked God for giving me the chance to hug my baby many more times. So go and hug your baby!!!

PARTY!

Well we survived the 1st birthday, and we had a blast! All of Kylee's cousins that live in the area were able to join us and Kylee was her happy old self the whole time. I let her take a nap while everyone was getting here and visiting and then we woke her up and she adjusted quite well. She was a little clingy to Mommy, but that is to be expected.

She actually helped open the presents this time, unlike Christmas where she just watched me do it. She massaged her cake, but didn't eat it until we put a little on a separate plate for her. I think the whole thing was a little overwhelming. I made the cake and I think it turned out a lot like the picture I found on the internet. For those of you who don't know, my mom is a cake decorator. While she was here to coach me, she didn't do any of the icing, except the writing.

Bryan was also able to come home this weekend for the party. He was such a sweet big brother. We had a good time with him. It was very hard to take him back. It is getting harder and harder on both of us with each home visit. Please pray that Jonathan and I are able to get in the right place to take him back this summer. We have been working through some things, but we aren't quite there yet.

Here are some pictures!

I hope I'm smarter than a fifth grader

I started my new job on Monday. I headed back to my old school to tutor math and reading. Remember that I was a music teacher, so we'll see how it goes. It was very weird to be back on my old stomping ground. The kids would see me and it would take them a second to register who I am. It was like a came back from the dead. But they were very happy to see me and all wanted to know why I wasn't teaching music anymore.

I am tutoring 5th grade which is great because I know most of them from last year. Their teachers were very helpful and I even got to observe a couple of classes to get me up to speed on what they are working on. I had to review all of my old math stuff. Luckily it all came back to me, so maybe I am smarter than a fifth grader.

Today was supposed to be my second day on the job, but Kylee was running fever this morning. So on my second day I had to take a day off. Oh well, such is the life of a mom :) Kylee got her 12 month shots yesterday afternoon and I think her fever is a reaction from those. It was 101.7 at one point, no wonder she was feeling bad. I enjoyed holding her all day since she is usually very independent. She was in bed by 6:30, poor baby girl. I am hoping she will be feeling better tomorrow.

I have a bunch of new pictures to post, but my camera needs new batteries and we are out. So I will have to load them on my computer tomorrow.

BIRTHDAY GIRL!!

One year ago our sweet little Kylee was born at 2:56 PM. Everyone told me how quickly it would go by, but I couldn't understand it until I lived it. We have absolutely enjoyed being Kylee's parents. She has such a tender spirit and curious personality. I love to watch her as she discovers all of the things around her. She has been such a joy in our lives. We feel honored to be your parents and we are looking forward to sharing so many more memories with you.

Here are some pictures from the past year :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLEE

Update: We just let her eat her cupcake and she absolutely loved it. She spit up a little when she got out of the bathtub so I guess it was a sugar overload. We also let her have a cup of whole milk with her dinner and she loved that too. I was dreading the transition, but it was no problem!

Water heater :(

Well last week I got up to the sound of rain. I went to the window and discovered that there was no rain. Odd, huh? So I listened for the source and it was the garage. I opened the door and found water in a line going all the way to the door. The water heater was leaking! I called Jonathan and he told me how to turn the water off.

So it was 9:30 AM and I hadn't even taken a shower or brushed my teeth and the water was off. I called a good friend and she graciously offered for me to come over and use her facilities. We lived without hot water for a couple of days until Jonathan could put in a new water heater. We got Christmas money, we spent Christmas money. Its times like these that you truly feel like an adult. The first hot shower that I took was awesome. DON'T TAKE YOUR HOT WATER FOR GRANTED :)

We ordered a new big girl car seat for Kylee. It is made by the first years and it is really nice. There is no re lacing when changing the straps and we can use it until she weighs 65 lbs. We highly recommend it. Kylee was so excited when it came in the mail. She couldn't wait to get inside of it. Then she fussed when she was finally in it. After Daddy came home and adjusted it, she decided it was okay.

I love this picture. She looks so bored like she just doesn't know what to do next.

We spent a little time outside. Yes that is the street behind her, we have a small yard.
Kylee was helping me with the laundry :) She put this on her head and then cried when I tried to take it off of her. What a silly girl.
Bath time, need I say more?
Here is Kylee throwing a fit b/c she isn't getting her way :)
Kylee strutting her stuff. Yes the Christmas tree is still up.Here is a game of peekaboo. Enjoy!
